Salary £28,860 - £35,128

The Faculty of Engineering and Construction is seeking to appoint an exceptional middle manager to lead a team of academic and support staff in the highly popular motor vehicle department.

We are currently looking for a Learning Manager within the motor vehicle department to lead our newly formed curriculum team. Ideally, you should have leadership and management experience in the FE sector and possess excellent teaching, communication and interpersonal skills. You will be required to lead and manage the student experience, curriculum areas and a committed team of teachers and assessors.

You should possess a minimum of NVQ Level 3 in automotive engineering- preferably with a specialism in heavy goods or automotive electrics, a recognised teaching qualification and have a proven track record in delivering high quality provision within an FE setting. Applicants will be familiar with automotive awarding body specifications at levels 2, 3 and ideally level 4, with a thorough knowledge of quality assurance procedures.

The successful candidate will drive the department forward through highly effective management of staff and outstanding teaching practice. The role will consist of 6 hours teaching per week and 6 hours of teaching, learning and assessment activities such as learning walks and lesson observations. Previous curriculum management is essential for this post along with a strong focus on quality and continuous improvement in all aspects of delivery. There will be a substantially reduced teaching load to achieve these expectations.

The motor vehicle department is exceptionally well resourced with modern workshops and a wide range of vehicles and equipment. Provision includes the repair and maintenance of both light and heavy goods vehicles and automotive electrics for over 100 full time students and well established apprenticeship provision.

This post benefits from an excellent holiday allocation, generous pension benefits and an ongoing commitment to staff development.

You will be expected to work such hours as are reasonable necessary for the proper performance of your duties and responsibilities, with a minimum of 37 hours per week. The College's leave year operates from September to August. The entitlement for this post is 39 days per annum plus statutory bank holidays. This post is subject to the provisions of the Teachers Pension, which is a contributory scheme.

Interviews will take place on 14th December 2015, please ensure you are available to attend on this date.
