We are currently looking for a qualified teacher of resistant materials to teach full time on a long term supply basis in a north Manchester secondary school
The Job
The Design & Technology Department provides a stimulating, well-balanced and inclusive curriculum which is designed to allow all pupils to maximise their potential.
Design & Technology is studied by all pupils within Key Stage 3 (Year 7-9) and is based on the guidelines outlined within the National Curriculum.
The students have the opportunity to experience a wide range of subjects including Resistant Materials, Food Technology, Textiles Technology and Graphic Products.
All students will learn, develop and experience the following skills:
Design and make products using a variety of materials that work well and look good;
Make design decisions that matter to the user of the products and services and to the wider world;
Draw on a wide range of knowledge to solve problems in relevant real life contexts;
Develop an enterprising attitude and take risks;
See opportunities and make things happen;
Deciding how successful they have been and evaluating their work.
The School
The school is located in South Bolton. It is a larger than average Secondary school which achieved a "good" in its last Ofsted inspection. It has a progressive leadership team who welcome all teaching staff whether temporary or permanent. They have clear expectations for all staff and all students with a thorough discipline and rewards system, and a dynamic appraisal structure for staff. The school has an excellent reputation within the area, and results are improving year on year with 2014 celebrating their best ever GCSE results.
The Child
Students attend from the Farnworth and surrounding areas of south Bolton. The ideal candidate would have experience of teaching students from an area of social deprivation and a passion for supporting and encouraging students through a whole child approach.
All applicants must have completed a PGCE Secondary qualification or Bachelor of Education providing Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). Applications from FE qualified instructors or teachers with QTLS or overseas qualified teachers not familiar with the GCSE curriculum will not be considered.
NQTs will be supported in their induction.
Salary range: £475-£650 per week (pre 12 week agency worker regulations, dependent on references and experience)
