Process Development Engineer

KSR Electronic Systems has an exciting opportunity for a Process Development Engineer to join our team in Swansea, South Wales, working within its high volume automated assembly environment. The successful applicant will join us on a full time, permanent basis and will receive a very competitive salary + benefits.

For more than 50 years, KSR has been an industry leader in designing, engineering and manufacturing adjustable and fixed pedal modules, foot and hand-operated parking brakes, electronic throttle controls and an increasingly wide variety of high performance electronic automotive sensors, and power control modules.

The Process Development Engineer will be primarily responsible for process and equipment development and the optimisation of process efficiency. The Process Development Engineer will develop and execute process improvement plans and activities, perform time studies and analyse process efficiencies. The successful candidate will also be responsible for sourcing and qualifying alternative materials, for continuous cost reduction and to keep ahead of or in line with changing legislation. The Process Development Engineer will define and oversee aspects of prototype process and build, is responsible for the development of processes and equipment utilised for manufacture of KSR products. Develop action plans & executes on these in support of KSR facility product roadmaps.

Key Skills, Educations and Experience required by our ideal Process Development Engineer -

- Degree / HNC in Manufacturing/Industrial or Engineering related field.

- Must be able to analyze manufacturing costs, identifying key underlying issues (process efficiency yield, etc.) and develop effective short-term and long-term solutions to problems.

- Demonstrated successes and progressive advancements with three to eight years in the electronics manufacturing industry.

- Will ideally be familiar with the automotive industry quality requirements, TS16949, and Advanced Quality Planning. Understanding of FMEA, 8D and other formal improvement tools is essential.

- Experience in the selection and qualification of materials, to meet specification requirements, is essential.

- Experience of FA of mechanical or material breakdown or fatigue would be desirable.

- Experience of performing process, equipment and material capability analysis is essential.

- Experience in any or all of the following Microelectronics skill technology areas would be desirable:

- Surface Mount, wave and selective soldering

- Transfer Moulding / device packaging.

- Encapsulation using gels, resins and conductive materials

- Die attach, Wire Bonding, sintering and Interconnect

- Previous experience in manufacturing product start-up, desirable through the design and development phases prior to transfer to manufacture.

- Passion for process improvement and experience of formal continuous improvement methodologies is an advantage (Kaizen, Six Sigma etc)

- Will have knowledge of and practical experience in a lean manufacturing environment.

The successful candidate must be well organised and able to manage multiple projects concurrently whether individually or as part of a team. This position requires a passionate commitment to quality and process improvement, along with a methodical and detailed working methodology.
