Working for a UK based supplier of automotive component systems, in line with their broad OEM customer base and substantial orders they require a highly experienced Process / Production Engineer to join the current engineering team on a permanent basis.
You will be working within their New Product Introduction department, focusing on assembly equipment. The successful candidate will have previous experience within a similar role, and be a driver and promoter of change who can make an impact on this successful business.
The role will report directly into the NPI team Leader, and will join an established engineering team within this global manufacturing business supplying customers to various OEM's located throughout the world.
Duties
- To support the introduction of new processes & equipment into manufacture
- To introduce world class manufacturing equipment and technologies specifically related to assembly i.e. robotics, conveyor systems, roll forming, fluid filling
- To develop continuous improvement activities on existing processes
- Specify, design, and validate new manufacturing processes, equipment and automated assembly cells
- Develop SOR's and liaise with external suppliers and internal departments for supplier selection
- Design and validate assembly tooling, jigs and fixtures
- Support of multi discipline teams for new product designs from prototype through to production
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate competency in the following areas:
- Lean Manufacturing, including SMED, 6 sigma, Kaizan and 7 wastes
- Line balance and time studies
- Problem Solving and D.o.E.
- FMEA, SPC and capability analysis
- Value Engineering
- Tool design and materials selection
- Experienced in CAD
- Process automation including robotics and PLC programming
- Mechatronic principles
The role involves dealing with customers, manufacturing team members and suppliers on a daily basis so good communication skills are essential. Demonstrable relevant experience in the automotive industry or fast moving goods industry in the area of process engineering is preferred.
