The company is the exclusive distributor for Landsail and Evergreen tyres in the UK and Ireland and the brand owner of Davanti Tyres. Based in their Haydock head office, the Transport Manager will be at the forefront of the company's expansion and will play an integral role within the Operations team. Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for managing their fleet of approximately 150 vehicles, ranging from 3.5t LWB vehicles up to 40ft articulated HGV's.

Duties include:

- Managing the fleet and drivers to ensure that all operational targets are achieved
- Monitoring of the vehicle GPRS tracking system to ensure it is working correctly and drivers are driving safely and efficiently.
- Take control of and be named on the operator licence
- Management of the servicing schedule so all company vehicles remain in excellent condition and roadworthy
- Management of road traffic accidents and break down procedures including liaising with insurers to ensure accidents are properly reported and the claims process is properly managed
- Create an effective reporting process and regularly provide update reports to the Operations Manager so they are aware of any issues.
- Alongside HR, you will play an active role in recruitment and any disciplinary issues relating to drivers
- You will monitor fleet costs to ensure that the fleet is managed with optimum cost efficiency
- Ensure that they, as a business are operating its fleet in line with transport legislation
- Organisation of hire vehicles when required
- Negotiation of cost with fleet suppliers
- Support of operational team on ad-hoc requirements

Essential Requirements:

- Transport Managers' Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC)
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in transport management
- Excellent communication, organisation and I.T skills
- Proven record of commercial focus in managing fleet costs
