Our client provides a range of social care, special education, community support and consultancy services in the North West of England. The charity is one of the North West’s largest providers of residential homes for children from short-term emergency care to long-term placements. Their fostering service provides family placements in the North West and neighbouring regions.

Joining them as a Learning Support Assistant (35.5 per week) at their new College site in Ashton-under-Lyne, you will become part of a busy and diverse team contributing to the effectiveness and efficiency of the School as a whole.  This is a temporary contract for a 12 month period.

Within the role you will assist teachers in the delivery of Individual Education Plan’s (IEP) either on an individual or group basis, supporting pupils in off-site activities on a one to one basis e.g. work experience placements, college visits and leisure activities and meeting with the relevant teachers to assist with the planning, implementation and monitoring of IEP’s.

To be successful in this role, candidates must have experience of working in a school or with children in another capacity, ideally within an SEBD setting, and have good communication and interpersonal skills.  Able to work on your own initiative and with a commitment to responding to the needs of our young people, you will hold a qualification relevant to a Teaching Assistant and have an awareness of current SEBD issues.
