Job Description
This company are looking for a senior PHP developer to join their existing team of developers working on the backend and frontend development of a custom database-driven web application
As part of the team, your duties will include:
- Backend and frontend development
- Bringing new and emerging technologies to the table
- Help develop the knowledge and skill set of the team
- Help improve development workflow and processes
- The application is over 5 years old and a high proportion of day to day work would involve refactoring of existing code
Skills and experience
Essential
- Highly proficient with PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript
- Proven experience and solid familiarity of MySql and relational database design
- Proven experience with web application architecture
- Proven experience with object-oriented PHP development and architectural design patterns
- Proven experience with Continuous Integration
- Proven experience with formal testing and unit testing (PHPUnit, Qunit, HttpUnit, Selenium)
- Confidence in improving the design of the existing code base through refactoring and regression testing
- Well developed planning and problem solving skills
- Absolute minimum of 3 years professional web development experience in a commercial environment
- Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision
Advantageous
- Degree in Computer Science or other related technical areas
- Experience with MVC frameworks (Zend Framework 1 and 2 or similar, Laravel, PHPFuel)
- Experience with frontend frameworks (bootstrap, foundation or similar)
- Experience with frontend templating engines (handlebars.js, backbone.js or similar)
- Experience with build tools (grunt, gulp or similar)
- Experience with Vagrant
- Knowledge of Unix based Operating Systems and being competent on the CLI
- Experience with Source Control (SVN, Git, CVS)
- Knowledge of Java
