We introduced a new organisational structure during the summer and undertook a major recruitment exercise to fill many new positions. We have a small number of vacancies for which we're now seeking applications. Previous experience of students' unions, universities or charities is not required. Applicants should be positive, proactive and willing to learn new things in a challenging but enjoyable environment.
The systems developer will have responsibility for improving existing systems and developing new software solutions within the Union. Microsoft Office is used as standard so the successful candidate will have experience of this, in particular in using Excel effectively and efficiently to simplify workflows.
We also use several proprietary systems for specific functions, including but not limited to the following: IRIS Exchequer (accounting), UnionCloud (website, membership management, event tickets), Fidelity Total Control and GPoS (stock control, tills), Kinetic Kx (room booking) and BT MyDonate (fundraising). The successful candidate is not required to be familiar with the above software but will be required to learn how the software works in order to simplify how the various software packages talk to each other.
The role will initially involve a lot of data manipulation with a goal to simplify the processes we use to minimise such work in future. Many of our IT systems are provided and managed by the University but the role will involve some troubleshooting of problems with users.
Further details on the position including the application process are available on our website.
