Topdeck has an exciting opportunity for several Coach Drivers to join our dynamic and enthusiastic team.  Currently Topdeck drivers are based out of the Netherlands, however there is potential for our drivers to be based out of London from 2016 onwards.  More information can be provided at the interview.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Aware of client safety and comfort at all times.
  • Responsible for all driver and coach documentation.
  • Maintain coach cleanliness both inside and outside to a high standard. 
  • Have an in-depth understanding of European driving laws and a thorough knowledge of all routes used on a particular trip.
  • Ensure client and crew luggage and equipment is loaded correctly.
  • Liaise with clients, crew and suppliers to the company diplomatically and professionally.
  • Research routes, cities and other general information to ensure changes or delays are avoided wherever possible and provide updated route notes after each trip.
  • Have a working knowledge of the mechanical aspects of your vehicle and keep the coach maintained, carrying out minor running repairs when required
  • Liaise with the workshop over faults and suspected faults.
  • Communicate and assist other Crew with the overall running of the trip – work as a team.
  • Ensure that the trip is run to an exact timetable and times are adhered to.
  • Follow Topdeck accounts procedure.
  • Socialise and assist the clients to have a ‘trip of a lifetime’.
  • Answer queries and help clients when necessary – the role is not just about being a Driver.

KEY COMPETENCIES AND REQUIREMENTS

You must be able to work in Europe.  You should be in possession of (or be able to obtain) a European Union passport or possess UK Ancestry. N.B. We cannot sponsor any candidate for this position. 

All drivers must have the following documents prior to our Training Trip commencing in March/April 2016 (noting this can take up to 4 months):

  • UK or European manual “D” class driving license;
  • Digital Tachograph card; and
  • Driver Certificate of Professional Competence card.

You must also be:

  • Aged 23 or over;
  • Proficient in English;
  • Outgoing and sociable;
  • Have a proactive ‘want to help’ attitude;
  • Have a good level of fitness; and
  • Able to relocate to the Netherlands for the main summer operating season

The following is preferable:

  • Experience in driving heavy vehicles.
  • A basic understanding of coach mechanics and maintenance.
  • Experience in reading maps.
  • Well-travelled. Have previously enjoyed a Topdeck experience or travelled in a group tour situation.

Successful candidates will be offered a position on our Training Trip, which will commence around March/April 2016 and last approximately 7 weeks.
