United Response is a leading national charity and we provide support for over 2000 people with learning disabilities, mental health needs or physical disabilities. We believe that people with disabilities should have the same rights and opportunities as everyone else. This is the vision we work towards and we are as passionate about achieving this now as we were when we started over 40 years ago.

We have an opportunity for Relief Support Workers to join us and support individuals to live the lives they choose. As part of our relief team, you can work days, evenings, weekends or nights, giving you the freedom and flexibility to arrange work around your life.

Because we are all different, your role as a Relief Support Worker will be varied - what you do and how you do it will depend on the needs of the individuals you are supporting. No two days are the same but could include supporting a person to:

  • Meet up with friends and enjoy their hobbies
  • Make meals and carry out household tasks
  • Manage their finances
  • Take medication
  • Get washed and dressed
  • Stay healthy and safe

To be a great Relief Support Worker, you don’t need previous experience or qualifications. What you do need is compassion, integrity and to treat people with dignity and respect. You need to be reliable because people are depending on you, be able to travel between locations and work flexibly, including evenings, weekends and overnight as needed. You  MUST therefore hold a full UK (or equivalent) driving licence for manual vehicles (Category B).

You also need to be a great communicator, both verbally and in writing and have basic IT and numerical skills.

In return for your passion and commitment, we offer a competitive salary, paid annual leave, pension contribution, childcare vouchers, access to occupational health, physiotherapy, counselling and advice services. You will be supported to learn and develop your career at United Response, with fully paid training and have access to nationally recognised qualifications.

The closing date for applications is Friday 11th December at noon*

There are 3 Relief posts available. We do not anticipate waiting until the closing date to arrange interviews - so the sooner you get your application in, the sooner you will get an interview. *The advert may be withdrawn at any time before the closing date if we have enough suitable applicants.
