Residential care home in Blackpool with six residents with learning difficulties / mental health problems. We are seeking either one full time or 2 part time care workers for the following shifts:
2 full days per week 9am to 5pm AND / OR
3 overnights (asleep) 5pm to 9am next morning Friday, saturday and Sunday night.
Experience Caring for adults with learning difficulties and / or mental health problems is preferable
Qualifications: NVQ level two is desirable but full training will be provided to the right candidate
Duties will include all aspects of looking after residents / the home on a daily basis:
Domestic duties: All aspects of maintaining the premises to a high standard including but not exclusive to meal preparation and serving, washing, ironing, cleaning, general housework
Personal care of service users (bathing, dressing).
Companionship: talking to / forming positive relationships with service users, supporting them if they are upset, helping them with things they cannot do unaided eg filling in forms,
Dealing with phone calls / paperwork. Reporting to manager any problems that may arise
Any other duties as are reasonably required.
Person Specification:
Must be in good physical health, as some lifting involved (bath chair, vacuum cleaner etc)
Must be capable of working unsupervised to a high standard
Must be able to use own initiative to identify and complete new tasks as they may arise
Flexible about working hours.
Have a friendly positive attitude and deal courteously with people working / residing in and visiting the home.
Have a patient caring nature and be able to remain calm under pressure.
Must be confident and assertive and be willing to accept the degree of risk involved in working with service users with mental health problems / learning difficulties
Must be reliable and honest.
Good sense of humour and empathic towards service users. If you are looking to make a difference in the lives of people with learning difficulties or mental health problems this is the job for you.
