Our client is a unique and successful independent secondary day school in London for children with dyslexia and associated SpLDs. They are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people as they have small classes on average less than 10. They expect all staff to share their commitment. You will be required to undertake an enhanced CRB disclosure.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Reporting lines
The Head's PA is immediately responsible to the Headmistress but will also undertake work as directed for the Executive Director.
Main Purpose of the Post
o To act as a Personal Assistant to and provide a full and confidential secretarial service for the Headmistress
o To assist the Headmistress in the smooth running of the school
o To act as an ambassador for both the school and the Head
o To support pupil recruitment
Key Responsibilities
o Organising and maintaining the Head's electronic diary, including visits for prospective parents
o Managing incoming communication to the School Office (emails, telephone calls, post etc) and triaging such communications for action
o Working with the Head to produce a weekly newsletter
o Minuting termly meetings for the Governing Body as well as half termly staff meetings
o Arranging travel and accommodation for the Head whilst on school business
o Overseeing and coordinating arrangements for staff appointments in accordance with recruitment procedures
o Maintaining the Single Central Register of Appointments
o Managing the planning and delivery of some school events, such as Open Days
o Working with the Academic Administrator to update and maintain accurate pupil records on the school's database
o Working with the Academic Administrator to distribute termly School Reports.
o Liaising, with tact and diplomacy, with other school staff and others outside the school, particularly parents and the local community
In addition to the above duties, the Head's PA is a member of the wider academic support staff and is thus expected to be a team player who will assist other administrative staff and the Deputy Head during busy periods.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
o Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively and appropriately with governors, staff, parents, pupils, alumni and external bodies
o A close attention to detail and a conscientious approach with a commitment to excellence
o Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office suite
o Fast and accurate touch-typing
o A 'can do' attitude and a good sense of humour
o The ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with complete tact and discretion
o A high degree of initiative and ability to prioritise work
Salary is £25,000 - £28,000 depending on experience.
