Finance Manager
Location: Birmingham
Salary: £35k – £40k (pro rata) based on experience
About The Opportunity:
The company is £1.5m turnover business.
The company are looking for a positive individual who is available for 2 days p/w as a replacement. This could be two days split over the week, for example Tues and Thurs or four half days – they're flexible.
Your responsibilities will involve managing the current bookkeeper and ensuring that everything from that perspective is correct and accurate.
The company would like someone who can look after the books, give some guidance to the existing bookkeeper and check over her work, as well as provide some more value-added information & reporting to the Directors, such as:
Provision of better MI to facilitate better decision-making;
Provision of more regular and accurate cash-flow reporting;
Implement business improvement initiatives (i.e. process improvements);
Change / improve the reporting structure and framework of the business and introduce more business intelligence tools;
Potential to implement better controls in the business, and possibly to introduce a more formal budgeting & forecasting process;
Potentially put in place a 3-year business plan to help guide the entire business and focus it on growth, controlling costs and improving performance across the entire business;
Get more involved in management meetings with the business and advise on key issues;
Help with new product development projects;
Minimise the need for an outsourced accountancy firm (providing a holistic accounting service to the entire business).
Knowledge in Sage Accounts and Microsoft Excel would be an advantage.
The right candidate will be proactive in their role and forthcoming in implementing change, helping the business improve.
