Job Introduction

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Digital Development Editor to join our fast-paced digital newsroom and help shape the future of our websites.

We are looking for someone with flair, ambition and digital know-how to help us continue to develop our online brands and maximise audience growth.

Role Responsibility

This person will be expected to organise the publishing of content across digital platforms including web, mobile and apps for high-profile brands including Birmingham Mail, Birmingham Post and Sunday Mercury.

You will have in-depth knowledge of key digital principles such as SEO, search, social media and have a passion for digital storytelling.

The Digital Development Editor will ensure a high level of digital publication standards, delivered in a way which meets audience expectations.

You will have an excellent understanding of audience behaviour and how to use analytics and data.

As well as making key content decisions, you will also be responsible for implementing platform developments and driving innovation in the newsroom.

The Ideal Candidate

Skills/experience

  • A Trinity Mirror or equivalent journalist qualification (or relevant time-served experience)
  • At least two years experience in content writing, editing and/or management
  • Demonstrable experience of team management and motivation
  • Proven digital skills including experience of using a content management system
  • An excellent understanding of SEO, search, social and digital audience behaviour
  • An excellent understanding of how content is shared and promoted through social media
  • Ability to use and apply learning through digital analytics
  • Ability to work well under deadline pressure
