Calsonic Kansei has an exciting opportunity for a Plastic’s Department Engineering/Process Technician to join the team based in Llanelli. The successful candidate will join us on a full time, permanent basis and will receive a salary £26,326.42 - £28,461.00 per annum.

Responsibilities of our Plastic’s Department Engineering/Process Technician:

Support the designated manufacturing area process and maintenance engineering activities. This will involve managing the process parameters, equipment and tooling to maintain product quality and output. Manage the Planned Maintenance activities and follow up of any issues where identified, focusing on quality, process, and machine uptime improvements.  Achieve department key performance indicators.

Tasks involved for our Plastic’s Department Engineering/Process Technician:

- Provide engineering support to the manufacturing area by repairing, modifying and improving of production equipment and tooling in addition to process control by monitoring and data collection.

- Understand the importance and benefits of TPM, by means of training and developing the area’s personnel.

- Work proactively to maintain and improve equipment efficiency (OEE) and reduce process defects and scrap.

- Have the ability to collate, interpret and present process data.

- Identify and implement improvement activities based on the process data.

- Support the installation and commissioning of equipment, tooling and new production processes.

- Identify key spare part levels and sources along with the planned maintenance tasks required to keep facilities operational at the highest level.

- Assist in maintaining accurate and reliable engineering documentation and standards.

- Maintain Quality Assurance checks i.e. torque wrench calibration etc.

- Use and update the maintenance database software.

- Maintain the area’s facilities in order to achieve the area’s output and quality targets.

- Liaise with suppliers and contractors

- Any other activities deemed to be within the candidate’s capabilities in line with the demands of the business.

- Be a key member in developing and maintaining the 3S housekeeping standards.

Skills and Abilities Required for our Plastic’s Department Engineering/Process Technician role:

Strong character that thrives on continual challenges associated with a fast paced 1st tier automotive supplier environment. Good knowledge of computer based machine management and mechanical, tooling and electrical devices including Plastic moulding machinery & technology. Have a flexible approach to shift working to support the production facility. Be self motivated, methodical in problem solving and work well individually or within a team and in conjunction with other departments.

- A time served apprenticeship is essential.

- Plastic Moulding Experience

- Excellent communication skills

- Ability to work without supervision

- Suitable experience in a similar manufacturing environment.

- Must be computer literate.

- Have the ability to communicate and produce reports and documentation.

- Health and Safety awareness

Qualifications and Profile Required:

- Ideally educated to GCSE standard or equivalent in Mathematics and English.  Ideally possess  a HNC in an engineering discipline.

- Manufacturing experience in a repetitive medium to high volume and high variety environment.

Additional Information

This position requires the person to work in a factory which is generally clean but there may be occasions when the incumbent will be expected to work in areas less desirable than the norm. On occasions physical effort may be required in moving items around the factory. The role may entail periods of work / training off site, which will mean  having to spend time away from home.

Working Hours: 39 hours per week Monday – Friday. Additional hours are expected to be worked in line with business needs and requirements.
