Our client is a global provider of people solutions to the airline and aviation industries. Established in 2005, strict financial control and good accountancy practice have been key to the management of our successful business. An opportunity has now arisen for an experienced management accountant to join the team as an in-house Financial Controller. Reporting to the Board of Directors, this exciting role spans AeroProfessional’s entire finance function, requiring the successful candidate to operate at both a routine and strategic level within the business.

About you:

To qualify for this post, you are likely to be ACA, ACCA or CIMA-qualified, having operated as an in-house Financial Controller, Management Accountant or Finance Director within a small finance team. A strong preference exists for candidates who have worked within (or managed) the finance function of an employment agency or similar multi-payroll environment. Further preferences exists for candidates with international / foreign currency accounting experience or candidates who have held the post of Company Secretary.

Key duties and responsibilities for this role include:

Annual budgeting
Overseeing year-end activity
Liaison with accountants, auditors and insurance brokers
Setting-up and minuting board meetings
Producing monthly management accounts in coordination with book-keeper
Calculation of staff payrolls
Checking of outbound payments
Liaison with operational business with regard to payroll deadlines
Overseeing intercompany trading / cross-charging
Managing property fiscal actions including maintaining property service charge schedules
Oversight of sales ledgers and daily reporting of bank balances / inward payments
Strategic involvement in relation to statutory governance and regulatory compliance
Company secretarial activity

The role is probably 70% routine financial control and related work, with a 30% leaning toward financial strategy and helping the business to grow. For that reason, you must enjoy routine attention-to-detail type work whilst also being able to think strategically, challenge existing processes and investigate/implement new ways of working.
