Job Title: ICT Support Technician

Location: Abingdon, Oxford

Salary: Circa £20,000 per annum

Our Client, a leading independent day and boarding school, is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated individual to work in their IT Department providing technical support assistance.

The school is seeking to appoint a dynamic and self-motivated candidate with good knowledge of common OS and applications to provide 1st line technical support. This is a busy and varied role requiring excellent communication and organisational skills with a flexible approach. A customer service background is essential.

Main Duties:

  • To monitor, process and respond to helpdesk requests within agreed target deadlines, to provide 1st Line technical support to computer users.
  • To maintain and configure desktop, laptop, mobile device and peripheral hardware and software.
  • To ensure that new staff receive basic instruction on ICT use.
  • To assist and cover for other members of the ICT Department as required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be a first point of contact for staff and pupils reporting ICT issues, faults or requests; contacts are typically face-to-face, by telephone or by email
  • Ensure that all ICT issues, faults and requests are logged into the Helpdesk Ticketing System
  • Monitor, process and respond to helpdesk requests within agreed target deadlines
  • Produce customer satisfaction surveys and Helpdesk reports and statistics as required by the ICT Manager
  • Diagnose and fix basic problems
  • Escalate support issues as necessary
  • Create network and email user accounts, reset passwords and undertake other tasks relating to user accounts
  • Install and commission new desktops, laptops, mobile devices and peripherals
  • Rebuild machines and install software packages
  • Deliver basic ICT Induction training to new staff
  • Maintain accurate and up to date inventory and purchasing records
  • Assist the ICT Department in other duties relating to the day-to-day maintenance and development of the school's computer systems
  • Advise the ICT Manager of any infringements of the School's Internet Policy and any misuse of equipment.
  • Prioritise work at busy times
  • Take part in a regular cycle of appraisal as directed by the ICT Manager
  • Undergo training as appropriate, and as directed by the ICT Manager
