Are you a confident and persuasive person that could charm the birds out of trees? Then Underwriting could be the right job for you! They are a rapidly expanding motor insurance company based in Bishops Stortford who has been trading for 25 years.

So, what will you be doing?

As an Underwriter you will be expected to convert car insurance policies to their many clientele. Before you think "oh no not car insurance and cold calling", well they are primarily an incoming call centre! So no aggravated customers on your phone line hanging up on you, they will be calling you to pay money and set up their policy! A large part of this role is customer service so if you think that this environment is not for you, think again! You will be required to collect their information and find an insurance policy that is suited to them and persuade them to set up their policy with us using their excellent packages that they offer. After full training you will given set targets to achieve and will have constant feedback through out the year to check how you are doing.

Day to day role….

The role is mainly phone based with the odd customer popping into the office on occasion. There is even the chance, if you want to, to attend car shows to sell policies face to face which not only will you be paid extra for but will give you better understanding of the types of vehicles they insure. Working hours are Monday to Friday 9:00am - 6:00pm or 10:00am - 7:00pm and alternate Saturdays 9:00am - 2:00pm.

Money......

Their starting salary is £14874 - £16000 depending on experience. Rather than a commission based role and worrying about your pay cheque at the end of the month the role is salaried. The probation period lasts 6 months and you will be provided with feedback on how you are progressing. Your salary will then be subject to review and any potential increase will depend on your overall performance throughout your probation period.

Staff are also assessed and graded after 12 months and are given a salary according to their grade. With hard work and dedication to the role it is possible to achieve their higher grades where you can earn between £20,000 and over £26,000 per annum depending on what department your role is in.
