Job elements: -
• The overall purpose of the role is to provide a full image deployment solution to customers. The person would manage the end to end process of image deployment from initial set up of the “master image” provided by the customer through to finalisation on-site whilst ensuring that the Company’s image library is effectively maintained and kept up to date.
• Monitoring build requests, making sure the correct build is ordered and providing support where required.
• Completing on-site image deployments by remotely supporting field service engineers and team leaders and project service engineers whilst on site.
• Installing relevant software, updates and completing final set-up stages using remote access software.
• Maintaining the image library and deployment solutions within the Company.
• Capturing and storing images of master “Gold Build” HDDs or imaging media supplied by our customers for replication and deployment.
• Creating bootable WinPE DVDs or other media to distribute to engineers for on-site deployment of customer images.
• Maintaining documentation for image control and version control to make sure images stored are up-to-date and correctly catalogued.
What the company is looking for in the successful candidate:
• The image deployment technician role is primarily that of a software support role. As such, a good understanding of basic operating systems functions, settings, controls and software/driver installation is essential, mainly with Windows NT4, XP and DOS. A background of software support, troubleshooting and problem solving is also desirable.
• Previous experience with remote access software (such as Landesk and Remoteware programs) would benefit, though training will be provided.
• Knowledge of image deployment tools, such as Windows Deployment Services (WDS) and Symantec Ghost, along with an understanding of DOS and DISKPART commands including batch file editing.
• The applicant must possess the ability to problem solve, think logically and clearly and be able to make decisions using their own judgement.
• Strong communication skills both verbally and written are required in order to communicate effectively with both internal and external customers.
• The successful applicant will be flexible and may be required to work outside of standard office hours, where the business needs dictate.
