Blackpool Education Supply Service working for local teachers to serve local Schools
Deputy Nursery Manager in a local Private nursery
Purpose of the Job: The post holder will support the manager in the delivery of high quality nursery provision and contribute to the holistic development of the children and their families in accordance with the National Standards for Day Care.
A. Service Delivery
? To lead the delivery of high quality nursery provision for babies and young children on a day-to-day basis, within the area of responsibility as directed by the Nursery Manager.
? To lead and implement a system of planning suited to the developmental needs of babies and young children
? To ensure all Key workers within the Nursery keep accurate and structured records of individual children and be responsible for them being up to date.
? To lead and model appropriate play opportunities indoors and outdoors, that encourages learning through play, meeting the individual needs of all the children in line with planning.
? To support the SENCO as required ensuring all staff are aware of policies and how they relate to the children in the setting.
? To support the Nursery Manager in ensuring that all the requirements of Health and Safety legislation, Ofsted National Standards and good practice are in place.
? To ensure that information about children, provided by parents, other team members and professionals is shared with those who need to know and recorded as necessary, ensuring that the principals of confidentiality are maintained.
? To be responsible for administration work that will include the receiving of income and keeping records of expenditure.
? To be responsible for the ordering of resources and supplies.
? To ensure accurate budget monitoring.

Staff Management
? To support the Nursery Manager with communication within the Childcare Team.
? To work with the Nursery Manager to ensure staff supervisions and appraisals are in place to ensure staff welfare is maintained and work plans are delivered.
? The management of staff rotas, ensuring adequate cover, recruitment and induction of staff.
? To support EYP?s with supervising the work of any volunteers/students on work placement at the Nursery.
? To take responsibility for decision-making when the Manager or other appropriate person is not available for consultation.

Qualifications:
? Level 3 qualification in Early Years and Childcare.
? Commitment to continuous professional development
? Experience of working in a childcare setting
? Experience of working within expectations of Health & Safety, Safeguarding and Equal Opportunities
? Strong knowledge and understanding of child development
? Ability to plan for and provide age appropriate play activities
