Head of Commercial - Bournemouth

Salary: £45,000 to £60,000 Depending on experience

This Head of Commercial vacancy is based in Bournemouth town centre but may well suit relevant candidates living nearby locations within Hampshire and Dorset.

We are now looking to recruit a Head of Commercial to join us at our offices based in Bournemouth Town Centre.

Head of Commercial Job Purpose:

The Head of Commercial will be responsible for leading and engaging a multi-disciplinary commercial team in order to deliver a smooth, efficient service that meets the expectations and needs of the business. They will inspire their team through coaching and development, and be adaptable to constant change.

In addition, they will be responsible for efficient stakeholder management - both internally and externally. They will liaise internally with Senior Management and their teams, and externally with regulators and service providers to ensure that communications are clear and concise.

The role operates at both a strategic and operational level and will play an important part in the overall management and direction of the business including formulating and implementing strategies, policies and plans.

Head of Commercial main duties and responsibilities:

Team Leadership & Coaching:

  • Ensure that all members of the team have agreed performance objectives and KPI's and receive performance development guidance in line with the overall business plan and their personal requirements
  • Lead and motivate direct reports to ensure that there is an emphasis on the proactive delivery of consistent and valuable commercial analysis and support to the business

Commercial Management:

  • Be the custodian and driver of the business planning process and contribute to short and long-term organisational planning and strategy
  • Develop and implement commercial plans to meet or exceed annual revenue, profit and cash collection targets
  • Ensure that business strategy is fully communicated both internally and externally to maximise potential business opportunities.
  • Responsible for the developing and monitoring performance measures, benchmarking and sector analysis, and routinely reporting on the results and updated forecasts.
  • To lead in identifying and delivering strategies to develop new and grow existing opportunities through insights gained from data analyses.
  • Ensure that development of business cases have the appropriate levels of technical, financial and operational input.
  • To be responsible for the timely and accurate submission of regulatory returns
  • To ensure regulatory changes are reviewed and that identified actions are carried to completion.
  • To manage regular analytical tasks.
  • To manage the price setting process to ensure that margin and acquisition targets are met.
  • Responsible for the negotiation and optimising the management of contracts while and continuously ensuring compliance with contract terms and company policie
  • Identifying, reporting and acting on potential threats and opportunities
  • To be accountable for day to day commercial management of the business
  • To support the business in its continued growth
  • To take ownership of the monitoring of the performance of existing forecast models

  • Possess strong experience of working in a high volume, service oriented business, dealing with a fast paced and ever changing environment
  • Have the ability to deal with many demands simultaneously
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the proven ability to engage, challenge and influence at all levels
  • A creative flair along with the passion to introduce new concepts and innovations
  • Exceptional leadership skills
  • The ability to coach, motivate and challenge a team to continuously improve process and procedures whilst striving to achieve best practice

Head of Commercial Skills Knowledge & Experience:

  • Excellent analytical and interpretive skills
  • Qualified to degree level or the equivalent work experience
  • Proven people management experience of individuals or teams
  • Track record of successfully applying tools and techniques to elicit, analyse, document, validate, manage business requirements and create compelling commercial propositions
  • Demonstrable experience of successful delivery
  • Ability to boil down complex concepts and analysis into simple messages for relevant audiences and communicate it in a concise & compelling manner
