Communication Support Worker - British Sign Language

Qualified to a minimum of Level 2.

Fixed term contract for 11 months

Part time:20 hours per week, term time only (38 weeks per year)

Salary range: Pro-rata of £17,388 rising to £21,640 per annum if level 3BSL Qualified (£8208.27 - £10215.49)

Peterborough Regional College is a large, successful college of further and higher education. We are currently seeking a part time Communication Support Worker to join our team for the new academic year commencing in September 2015 to July 2016. This role you will work during term time weeks as part of our Additional Learning Support team. The team provide a range of dedicated and qualified support to our learners to enable them to reach their full potential.

In this role you will communicate between D/deaf, hard of hearing, deafblind students (prospective and enrolled) and staff in all types of learning situations, interviews, meetings and award events which may be internal or external to the College. You will support learners in the learning environment using their agreed method of communication, establish a positive, constructive and supportive working relationship and liaise with teaching staff on best practice supporting the learner within the learning environment.

You will have extensive general work experience of working with students in either schools, adult education, prisons or voluntary/charitable organisations and hold a minimum of Level 2 qualification in British Sign Language.
