This role involves ensuring resident care is to the highest standard and the care worker will be working within a multi-disciplinary team to meet the need of the service users.

Key Objectives

- To deliver individual "hands on" care to residents
- To assist the Home Manager and Senior Care Assistant or RGN to deliver measurable care targets agreed for each Home

Supporting Objectives

To continually improve the quality of care delivered by:

- Ensuring that care is delivered in line with best practices, and Group Care Standards and Core Principles of Care.
- Keeping up to date with best practice as part of an ongoing personal development plan.

To ensure that the care needs of individual residents are effectively assessed, planned and evaluated by:

- Participating verbally in the ongoing assessment, planning and evaluation of residents.
- Contributing verbally to the daily recording of resident care.
- Ensuring that changes in resident needs are identified to the Senior Care Assist or RGN during each shift.
- Participating in the regular review of care practice within the Home.

To ensure that the home provides care services which enable each resident to achieve quality of life by;

- Assisting residents in all aspects of their physical, emotional and spiritual care needs in line with the agreed care plan and carrying out the highest possible levels of care by supporting and assisting residents in all aspects of daily living.
- Ensuring that changes in needs are observed and verbally reported.
- Closely monitoring residents who may be confused.
- Assisting in the promotion of continence.
- Assisting in framework of social activities by interacting with residents and helping them continue with hobbies and activities in the Home.
- Answering nurse call system and giving assistance as required.
- Assisting residents who need help during mealtimes.
- Escorting residents travelling to and from the Home
- Practising maximum integrity in all dealings with residents personal and financial affairs, and avoiding abuse of the privileged relationship that exists with residents.
