This recognized leader in providing software solutions and professional services for Business Process Management and Enterprise Architecture is looking to recruit a Technical Author / Multimedia Writer.
The role will work closely with the Development and Marketing teams, to understand new features that are being added to the product, and to be able to describe them both for users, administrators and from a marketing perspective. Conducting research, selecting organizing materials, and writing stories, ideas and information. Responsible primarily for the written user documentation for their products, the role will be required to self manage, to ensure they have acquired the necessary information and are able to deliver the artefacts in a timely manner, to meet release schedules.
Typical documents required from the role include, but are not limited to:-
- Release Notes
- Install Guide
- Product User Guide
- Requirements Documents
- Product Specifications
Product responsibilities include:
- Reviewing and assisting in the authoring of product dialog messages, menu titles, and other customer visible text within the product.
- Management of the localisation process for both product and documentation for each release. Working with a translation agency, to ensure "strings" and documents are translated with the correct context, and in a timely manner.
- Production of enablement videos, to demonstrate new product features for releases, targeted at both internal stakeholders (for training purposes), and customers (for promotion).
- Developing content for their web enabled products, that will guide users through the usage of the products, with multimedia presentation techniques, such as:
- Videos
- Text (overlays on the product)
- Step by step guides
- Other modern walkthrough techniques
Working with Marketing to ensure they are aware of upcoming features, and have content available to use, when producing marketing brochures, and other material.
A level of technical ability will be required to produce this material, as the product will need to be operated by the role, in order to document the steps, and screen record for the videos.
Person Description
- A Bachelors degree
- At least 3 years experience as a Technical Author, or equivalent, for software products
- Understanding of software technical requirements, and an ability to put these into words that can easily be understood by end users
- Excellent written English, presentation and communication skills
- Proactive, can-do attitude
- Diplomacy, tact and multi-cultural awareness
- Tenacity and persistence
- Strong interpersonal Communication (verbal and written) and networking skills essential
- Effective time management with ability to meet competing demands
- Experience of working with new and emerging technologies.

- Screen capture and editing skills,
- Knowledge of document localisation processes
