Our client is looking to recruit a Charity Shop Manager on a full time basis, to manage all retail activities.  The position is for their Lancing shop but you could be moved to their other four shops in Worthing, Goring, Rustington and Littlehampton. 

You will be required to generate the maximum return for the shop through retail activities, whilst enhancing the Charity brand.

It is expected that all staff will be sympathetic to the Christian aims and ethos of the Charity.

Duties and responsibilities

  • To manage and co-ordinate the retail activities of the shop and to maximise income from the resources provided.
  • To maximise profits and increase profitability by meeting or exceeding weekly turnover targets.
  • To ensure the smooth day to day operation of the shop for the agreed opening hours, by completing and administering the volunteer rota and arranging cover for holidays and other absences.
  • To select and price quality stock ensuring the professional presentation of the shop at all times with particular attention to display, cleanliness and customer care.
  • To ensure the security of the premises, stock and cash.
  • To comply with all statutory legislation, particularly that of Health and Safety and Trading Standards.
  • Recruitment, supervision and training of volunteer helpers.
  • Management of a part time deputy manager
  • To ensure till procedures are followed, control the banking of cash making weekly returns to the office as directed.
  • To ensure the regular rotation of stock and organise the sorting and boxing of all donated clothing.
  • To liase with the appropriate person as directed to ensure the collection of packed boxes, rags and rubbish.
  • To liase with the local traders and competition as appropriate.
  • To undertake any other duty within your ability and within reason that may be required from time to time.
  • To create a friendly, welcoming and appreciative atmosphere for both customers and volunteers.

  • To work effectively with the other job share shops manager to ensure the smooth running of the shop at all times.
