We currently have a vacancy for a Logistics Operative to join Engineering Reliability. Engineering Reliability work within our Service Delivery business unit, and are responsible for Electrical, Mechanical and ICA maintenance and repair of Yorkshire Water's operational assets. The Logistics Team manage the supply of parts to the field teams. The Logistics Team is an expanding team and this exciting opportunity is part of our growth plans for the future. This role is based in Normanton, West Yorkshire. What is the purpose of the role? Your role will involve working as part of a small team to continually improve our business process and ensure that we are getting value for money through our supply chain. You will enable the efficient operation of the goods in / out and stores processes at Foxbridge Logistics Centre and the supplier & customer relationship management. You will be the main point of contact for coordination of consignments and maintenance packs for onward delivery to site and understand stock levels of maintenance parts and critical spares to ensure economic levels are maintained.

Salary £20,000 + pesion + 25 days annual leave + quarterly performance related bonus.

What will the role involve?

Your role as a Logistics Operative will be to work as part of the Logistics team to deliver excellent performance by understanding how their individual performance links into achieving both team's wider objectives. You will assess the criticality of parts as they arrive at the Logistics Centre and understand the technical terminology to ensure that equipment is catalogued and stored appropriately. This requires the role holder to interrogate a number of different YWS corporate and supplier IT systems, including SAP, AI and OSATS.

You will carry out investigations of the equipment using your technical understanding , and network of internal and industry contact, gather the required technical specifications to satisfy the YWS Corporate systems.

You will maintain high standards of housekeeping within the warehouse and adhere to safety instructions on site. You will document daily pre operational checks of material handling equipment and receiving of good and recording on corporate systems. You will barcode ICA equipment, pick and pack small consumable items and monitor and replenish stock levels.

You will liaise with wider teams to arrange deliveries to site and with suppliers for incoming deliveries and returns. You will develop an excellent network of contacts, both within our business and within our suppliers and arange onward distribution of parts to field teams.

What skills are we looking for?

You will be able to demonstrate technical understanding of all asset specifications, particularly pumps and have experience of understanding where your role fits within a business plan and then developing ways to deliver the outputs. You will be able to develop and maintain effective internal and external relationships and have the ability to influence and drive the right culture and behaviours.

You will have comprehensive knowledge of stock management system and SAP and take ownership of area in terms of supporting and advocating a safe working environment by implementing and adhering to health and safety procedures.

You will have previous experience of manual handling, strong interpersonal and communication skills and influencing and negotiating ability to be demonstrated internally and externally.

It is essential for you to hold a Full EU driving licence and a Fork Lift Truck driving licence.
