An opportunity has arisen for a Waking Night Care Assistant to join a care home that provides high quality housing, care and support to older people, older people with dementia and adults with learning disabilities. Based in Lancashire, the successful Waking Night Care Assistant will earn an hourly rate of £6.67 to £9.20.
The successful Waking Night Care Assistant will be responsible for providing all aspects of the care, comfort, emotional well-being and safety of residents at night, while contributing to and following a personalised care plan for each individual. Responsible to the Home Manager, your main duties and responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:

The successful Waking Night Care Assistant will be responsible for providing all aspects of the care, comfort, emotional well-being and safety of residents at night, while contributing to and following a personalised care plan for each individual. Responsible to the Home Manager, your main duties and responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:
- Providing personal, emotional and practical care for older people with a wide range of illnesses and disabilities
- Assisting individual residents with getting up or going to bed, washing, dressing, undressing, changing, turning, bathing and using the toilet when necessary
- Following safe working practices including manual handling (hoisting as necessary) and infection control
- Assisting new residents to settle in
- Reading and writing reports and taking part in staff and residents’ meetings and in training activities as directed
- Assisting residents to bed and visiting each person two hourly during the night, unless the care plan states otherwise
- Using the Check IT system in a timely fashion, to accurately record care and attention provided
- Providing drinks and snacks for residents throughout the shift, according to need and choice
- Ensuring that all public areas are kept clean and tidy
- Carrying out various household duties
- Ability to work with older people
- Ability to provide emotional support to older people with dementia
- Sympathy with Catholic ethos of the home
- Ability to work within a team and also unsupervised
- Ability to make appropriate decisions and follow through courses of action
- Ability to undertake a high level of responsibility
- Ability to read and write reports and care plans
- Relevant NVQ qualifications in Care are desirable but not essential
