Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lead Delivery Engineer to join our BTR Project team.
The purpose of this role is to lead, in conjunction with the Senior Delivery Engineer the planning and execution of the p-way and drainage engineering prep, setting out, site delivery and follow up for track and drainage renewals. To deliver this work safely, compliantly and efficiently.
What you'll be doing
Responsibilities
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Direct and execute work (Track & Drainage) as required by the Senior Delivery Engineer to deliver the following safely and efficiently.
- Lead short/medium term planning
- Lead input into Method Statements & Risk Assessments
- Make sure the delivery engineering team attends meetings and liaise as required
- Organise and create content for internal training courses
- Mentor E5 engineers in all aspects of construction
- Assist Project Manager and commercial team in completion of EWNs
- Assist Project Manager with completion of Gate Management Plan (GMP)
- Lead and organise pre-site briefings to site teams on method statements, risks, and H&S arrangements (Wed morning briefings)
- Carry out effective Site Setting Out
- Represent the construction team atIDR1&2
- Identify the need for and contribute towards concessions
- Have a broad understanding of Project Engineering including Track, Signals, Power & Civils
- Working towards LU Engineering Accreditation in the Track discipline
- Engage with client to find engineering solutions
- Control all on-site technical activities/ quality in accordance with detailed work plan
- Liaise with other site staff and operatives
- Create and maintain site records and quality documents (cost, time and safety)
- Attend all training and briefing (both Technical and Safety) to ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with the latest standards and safety requirements
Who we're looking for
The Individual
Essential:
- HND / HNC in civil engineering
- Demonstrable understanding of track design drawings
- Demonstrable understanding of track and drainage standards, processes and procedures
- Proficient in surveying techniques
- An understanding of site setting out.
- Excavation methods
- LU Track Accustomed Cert, LUCAS card
- IT skills (MS office)
- FullUKdriving licence
- Proficient in 2D and 3D laser controlled dozing
- TRVtrending and analysis
- Stressing levels 1 & 2
- Tamping: Plasser-3 point-WinALC
- Demonstrable understanding of CDM and H&S legislation
- Working knowledge of LU planning systems
- Lifting Appointed Person certification
- Demonstrable understanding of PMF
Desirable:
- Extensive relevant experience in track construction environment or other construction discipline
- Understanding of material sampling and testing specifications
- Compaction testing & techniques
- Hand-back checks
- Experience of contracting environment
