Exciting Opportunity with Yorkshire Water Developer Services Technician Based at Buttershaw, Bradford 6 month Fixed Term Contract / Secondment Your role as a Developer Services Technician forms part of the Sewerage Technical Team within the Service Delivery Business Unit. Service Delivery is all about putting customers at the heart of everything we do. The Developer Services team provide a reliable and helpful service to property developers and the domestic and commercial customers that we service. You will form part of an open and informative team who are committed to providing a high level of service to each of our customers. The purpose of your role is to provide customers, internal and external with a high level of technical advice and support whilst maintaining the integrity of Yorkshire Water assets and being fully compliant with appropriate guidelines and regulations.

Salary £23,290 - £28,000 depending on experience + pension + quarterly performance related bonus + 25 days annual leave

What will the role involve?
As a Developer Services Technician, you will predominantly undertake the initial assessment of large development sites and provide a technical acknowledgement to facilitate the adoption of new and existing sewers. You will assess design drawings and hydraulic calculations to ensure relevant standards are met through to adoption of the built network including pumping stations and detention basins. You will have an appreciation of the interpretation of MicroDrainage submissions.
You will assist in the delivery of capital solutions in relation to minor and major sewer requisitions and diversions, deal with all correspondence requiring expert technical advice, clarification and application support.
You will also be responsible for undertaking technical assessments of proposed minor sewer diversions and alterations, following receipt of a build over consultation.
You will work closely with Developer Services Inspectors, based across Yorkshire, to ensure the approved sewerage network and asset designs are installed in accordance with our standards on development sites up for adoption. You may be required to attend site and undertake inspections of prospective public sewers, connections, minor alterations and diversions.

What skills are we looking for?
It is a desirable requirement to be able to demonstrate a detailed technical knowledge and understanding in relation to the design and operation of sewerage networks, hydraulics and pump station design and installation.
You will have an appreciation of the Water Industry Act 1991 (s104, s102 and s185), Sewers for Adoption (6th & 7th Edition), SUDS and an appreciation of the impact of the Mandatory Build Standard.
You will have the ability to develop and maintain effective internal and external relationships with colleagues and customers, display excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills and will be computer literate. Be enthusiastic with the ability to demonstrate drive, dedication and ambition to deliver first class customer service skills and demonstrate the ability to negotiate and influence and work on your own initiative.
You will be an effective time manager in order to meet stringent timescales, with the ability to multi-task, as the role demands. Commitment and flexibility is key, along with the ability to cope under pressure, calmly and rationally in a sometimes stressful environment.
An appreciation of technical knowledge required in relation to the design and operation of sewerage networks.
It would be desirable to have previous experience in a commercially orientated and / or regulated environment and experience gained within the water or waste water sectors or within the broader utilities, process or manufacturing industry sectors.
