The role
As a Legal Assistant you will provide conveyancing support services using computerised case management systems within a team of Property Lawyers in a busy CQS accredited conveyancing department. Call volumes are high so you must be highly organised and customer focused. Your responsibilities will include:-
• Delivering practical services of outstanding quality that are focused on the client’s needs and quick turnaround of conveyancing work.
• Assisting with the provision of a conveyancing service and to provide assistance to fee-earners.
• Drafting and submitting contract packs.
• Carrying out and reporting on conveyancing searches.
• Updating clients, estate agents and other solicitors, taking actions agreed with fee-earner/team leader and reporting back progress.
• Obtaining redemption figures, liaising with lenders regarding outstanding items, chasing documentation and searches.
• Carrying out completions under supervision – dealing with redemptions and transmission of funds.
• Dealing with post-completion matters.
• Undertaking any other reasonable duties as required by fee-earner/team leader.
About you
You will have a good understanding of property law and the conveyancing procedure, with the ability to deal appropriately with confidential and sensitive information. You will have the ability to follow procedures and maintain professionalism at all times as well as a good judgement in terms of resource management.
You will be a confident and innovative individual with the ability to work well in a team to help deliver a joint outcome effectively. You will have excellent organisational, interpersonal, and communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to analyse large volumes of information methodically and the ability to work to deadlines and prioritise conflicting objectives.
Please note candidates with an LPC qualification are welcome to apply, and previous holders of this post have gone on to train and qualify with Berwins however a training contract is not guaranteed
