Brighton College has an exciting opportunity for a HR Assistant/Receptionist to join the team based in Brighton. You will be on a Fixed Term Contract (covering Maternity Leave), with a highly competitive salary of £20,000 per annum.

We are seeking an efficient, enthusiastic individual with excellent communication skills to join our busy and successful Independent School in a dual role as a HR Assistant and Receptionist.

HR Assistant/Receptionist Job Purpose

The HR Assistant position brings with it a requirement for efficiency, initiative and an eye for detail. It requires the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Much of the work is highly confidential, therefore absolute discretion and professionalism is essential.

The Receptionist position plays a key role in presenting the professional face of the College. Our Reception team is the “front line” for enquiries from parents, pupils, visitors and staff.

Key Skills needed as our HR Assistant/Receptionist

- Secretarial experience

- Previous experience of working with databases (desirable)

- Strong working knowledge of Word, Outlook and Excel (essential)

- Typing speed of 50 wpm (minimum)

- The ability to deal with people at all levels with charm and tact

- Excellent interpersonal and customer-facing skills

- Excellent literacy and communication skills

- Initiative and ability to work unsupervised in a busy role

- Diligence regarding process and procedural tasks and an eye for detail

- Excellent telephone manner

- Strong organisation skills

The ideal candidate for the role of HR Assistant/Receptionist will be enthusiastic, professional, and comfortable communicating with pupils, parents, the general public and members of College staff at all levels of seniority.

The core hours of work are Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 5pm, with an additional 6 Saturday mornings per year.

We are willing to split the role and would consider applications from those wishing to work part-time in either the HR or Reception role.
