Our Local Government client based in Hampshire is are recruiting a number of Care Assistants to attend to the individual needs of residents and to monitor them during the day or night. This role can be emotionally demanding, due to the challenging behaviour of clients, cases of terminal illness and when residents pass away.

The successful candidates may need to provide support to relatives, Must be able to perform a varied range of tasks including spending time with residents (both at the unit and on external trips) to build relationships, shopping, acting as a key holder and maintaining a standard of cleanliness in residents rooms including labelling of personal clothes and tidying cupboards/drawers.
Education/Qualification – Essential
NVQ Level 2 /3 Social Care
Moving and Handling Certificate - Must been issued in last 12 months

Skills, Knowledge & Experience – Essentials

  • Must have patience and good communication skills, must be trained or willing to train in the use of moving/handling equipment e.g. hoists, glide sheets.
  • The role will require physical effort moving residents and the daily collection of linen.
  • An understanding of illnesses and disabilities relating to older people
  • Must be able to maintain records of residents care needs, advise senior staff of any issues concerning the welfare of residents and liaise with residents relatives and senior staff.
  • Must also assist in maintaining individual standards of hygiene in accordance with clients wishes to maintain personal dignity, will also be required to undertake appropriate activities with clients e.g. gardening, cookery etc.
  • Must have an understanding of the concept of person centred care or the delivery of outcomes for older people
  • Must have understanding the working of care Plans
  • Experience of working with vulnerable older people
  • Must have knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures
  • Flexibility regarding working hours – able to work a variety of shifts including mornings, days and nights
  • Understanding and commitment to the Equal Opportunities.
  • Registered Enhanced / Standard DBS Disclosure within the last 12 months
  • Must be able to provide references covering the last 5 years
