StepChange Debt Charity is seeking an innovative Helpline Advisor to join our team based in Leeds City Centre on a 12 month contract (initially). The successful applicant will receive a salary of £18,269 depending on experience plus benefits.

The role of Helpline Advisor :

Our team of experts help over 500,000 people a year to overcome their debt problems, but we want to be able to help more people. That’s why we’re looking for Helpline Advisors to join our current team for an initial period of 12 months fixed term. Our free phone helpline is the first point of contact for new clients looking for our help and advice.

Key Responsibilities as Helpline Advisor :

Using your strong interpersonal skills, you’ll take information from potential clients who aren’t sure how to overcome their financial difficulties. As the calls are often from distressed individuals you’ll need to show empathy and be able to quickly build rapport. You’ll then use your data entry skills and eye for detail to create budgets for clients.

Strong communication skills are essential and experience in a customer focussed role would be beneficial. Our in-house computer system is unique so you’ll need good PC skills although full training will be provided.

Working hours of a Helpline Advisor :

You’ll be working from 12pm to 8pm Monday to Friday with one weekday off and then 8am to 4pm on Saturdays. You’ll have Sundays off as well.

Your start date will be in September and October 2015 and to give you the best possible start you’ll attend a 5 week training academy.
