Based in Newbury the System Administrator will join the ICT team in delivering services and support to a user base of 400+. The system administrator will also have responsibility for delivering 1st and 2nd level support across all infrastructure and application platforms and 3rd level support for a subset of specific specialist services along with the following:-
* Involvement with ICT projects, with the opportunity to lead projects.
* Installation, configuration and maintenance of server, PC, laptop and network hardware and software.
* Shared responsibility for successful system backups and recovery.
* Participation in on-call / standby roster and associated duties.
* Ensure that you have read, understood and adhere to the Health and Safety procedures (07173) and accomplish the tasks required using any safety equipment provided and in accordance with the Company Health and Safety rules and procedures.
* Carry out any other duties which the Management considers to be within your capabilities and experience that may be necessary to ensure the efficient operation of the department.
* Occasions may arise when assistance is required in other areas of the Company, and employees are requested to undertake other duties according to their capabilities when necessary.
To be successful in this role the System Administrator will have the following skills and experience
* MCSE / MCITP
* At least 3 years' experience in the following disciplines:
* Delivery of 1st, 2nd and 3rd level support to a user base of 150+
* Windows Servers (2003, 2008)
* Active Directory, DFS
* Networks (Switches, Routers, VLANs, TCP/IP, LAN, WAN, VPN, DHCP, DNS etc.)
* Storage technologies (DAS, SAN, NAS, iSCSI, Fibre Channel, RAID configurations etc.)
* Backup and Recovery Software & Operations (BackupExec, Tape Libraries, Backup Sets, Agents etc.)
* Mobile Device Support (BES, iPads, Smart phones)
* Exchange Server (2003, 2007, 2010)
* Installation and configuration of PC and Laptop hardware and software
* Server hardware and virtualisation (Hyper-V, VMWare).
Highly Desirable skills but not essential
* Experience working in an ITIL based service environment
* Knowledge / experience with PBX systems incl. VOIP PBXs
* Linux Administration
* Working knowledge of Apple Mac hardware & O/S environment
* SharePoint Administration and Development
* Automated workstation software installations
* Experience using Microsoft System Centre software.
