Our Client is a charitable organisation that provides a range of flexible individualised care and support services for people with learning disabilities, mental health support needs and older people. Their services include supported living, domiciliary care, housing & care (extra care) schemes, care homes, day services and respite/short breaks.
Team Leader – Role Overview and Responsibilities
To lead a team of Care and Support Workers, ensuring that people are effectively supported in accordance with their individual care and support plans. You will ensure that people being supported are safe, cared for and treated with dignity and respect and free from abuse, harm or inappropriate treatment.
Essential
• QCF Diploma Level 2/NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent)
• Prepared to work towards QCF Diploma Level 3/NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent)
• Experience of working in a care and support setting.
• Working as part of a team and on own initiative.
• Demonstrate an understanding of how discrimination may be experienced by minority groups.
• Demonstrate an understanding of how discrimination may be experienced by minority groups due to disability, sex, age, ethnic origin or sexual orientation.
• Developing and recording care and support plans and risk assessments.
• Demonstrate ability to respect the choice, dignity and rights of individuals
• Practical care and support skills
• Sensitive to the needs of older people living with a dementia
• Demonstrate an understanding of the needs of older people and how to support them to lead valued lives in the community
• Good leadership skills
• Good IT skills
• Ability to deal with complaints or difficult issues
• Knowledge of health and safety issues within the workplace
• Literacy skills (for report writing), verbal skills (for communication) and numeracy skills (for budgeting)
• Planning and organisational skills.
• Demonstrate the ability to respect the choice, dignity and rights of individuals
• Ability to make informed judgements

• Ability to work flexibly to meet the needs of the people we support, ensuring that the service has 24 hour staff cover, 365 days of the year.
• Demonstrate an awareness and understanding of the importance of confidentiality.
• Capable of working in a position that requires moving & handling tasks as a core requirement.
• Willingness to undertake training as directed by the line manager
• Minimum age 18 years old
