Surveyor - Rail Business Group (based from Harpenden)

The Rail Business Group work on our prestigious rail projects, which have included the DLR Platform Laser Scanning, London Bridge Station Redevelopment and East Coast Mainline Gauge Enhancement Projects.

About the Role

As a Surveyor, you will take responsibility for leading and delivering smaller projects or aspects of larger projects independently or in conjunction with fellow surveyors providing solutions to our impressive portfolio of clients on a variety of projects. 

You will take responsibility for data, from its collection to final delivery, using the most appropriate technology and methodology to meet the project specification such as Topographical Surveys, Control Networks and collecting Point Cloud data using the latest Leica 3D Scanners and the Amberg Track Trolley System.

You will work in conjunction with the Project Manager to pro-actively report on project progress, and ensure that projects meet the required deadlines and project costs remain within budget.

You liaise with Clients as required on site concerning project specifications and deliverables.

You will coach and instruct internal staff and subcontractors on all aspects of data collection and data processing, encouraging all aspects of “best practice”.

About You

Suitable applicants will have a degree level qualification in Surveying and/or Civil Engineering. 

Applicants will have at least 3 years’ experience working within a surveying practice with some experience in the field of Rail Survey and Laser Scanning.

You will have knowledge and experience in the use of Survey instrumentation and processing Survey Data.

Good communication and organisation skills are essential to this role and knowledge of Health and Safety within a Rail environment.

Flexibility on working hours is important as there will be a requirement to undertake varying shift patterns, working nights and bank holiday periods is essential.
