We are proud to deliver learning and skills in over 70 sites within her majesty’s prisons, private sector, Approved Premises and the community.
Having recently been awarded the new Young Offenders Institution contract at HMYOI Wetherby, they are seeking to appoint a number of Cover Trainers in the following areas:
- Industrial cleaning
- Bike maintenance
- Construction (bricks, plastering, fitted interiors)
- Horticulture
- Waste management
As directed by the Curriculum Manager or Trainer, the purpose of this role is to deliver high quality, learner focused vocational training to meet contractual requirements and Awarding Body standards, in line with college policies and procedures.
Key responsibilities (but not limited to) are as follows:
- Within a scheme of work, developing lesson plans to ensure compliance with curriculum best practice and quality targets
- Working collaboratively with Functional Skills Teachers / Learning Support Practitioners to support literacy, language and numeracy skills within the programme
- Ensuring the safeguarding of learners
As a successful candidate you will:
- Have at least 2 years’ experience in the relevant vocational area
- Be willing to gain PTLLS within 6 months
- Be committed to gain a subject specific qualification to allow you to train to level 3, within 2 years
- Be committed to gain as assessor award required by relevant Awarding Bodies, within 1 year
- Hold at least a level 1 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy or be willing to commit to gaining the qualification(s) within 1 year
- Gain/hold and maintain a clean, enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)
