Exciting opportunity with Yorkshire Water Strategic Investment Manager Based in Bradford. We currently have a vacancy for a Strategic Investment Manager to join the Business Risk & Investment Team which forms part of the wider Asset Strategy & Policy department. As the Strategic Investment Manager you will play a key role in shaping the direction of the business over the next 25 years. You will be at the forefront of both company and industry thinking in the emerging world of regulation and how it impacts the expenditure decisions we make. You will have responsibility for developing significant sections of our next regulatory submission to our economic regulator, aligned to our customer defined Outcomes and Company Strategic Business Objectives.

Salary & Benefits - £38,430.00 - £56,932.00 per annum + attractive pension + annual performance related bonus + 28 days holiday + company car + private healthcare

What is the purpose of the role?

You will have responsibility for developing significant sections of our next regulatory submission to our economic regulator, aligned to our customer defined Outcomes and Company Strategic Business Objectives.

What will the role involve ?

You will lead a team of analytical specialists who support the investigation, modelling and benefits analysis of potential investment scenarios to enable decisions to be made regarding the potential expenditure risks and benefits, associated with maintaining and enhancing the service we provide to both customers and the environment.The ability to appreciate & engage in the technical specialisms within the team, as well as direct the application of these specialisms to understand potential investment opportunities, is key within the role. You will also be instrumental in updating regulatory intelligence through to the team.

You will be responsible for informing, creating and influencing the company medium and long term investment strategies, aligned to Strategic Business Objectives and Outcomes. You will seek to create greater financial understanding through confidence and sensitivity analysis. Responsible for developing the technical business cases for investment in future periodic reviews, you will ensure any future investment proposals meet appropriate regulatory guidelines and internal assurance processes. You will lead the population of OFWAT price review tables and auditability of the information provided, including audit attendance and query resolution.

A key part of the role will be to identify how the changes in legislation, stakeholder support, regulatory or accounting guidance or new obligations could change the viability of investment scenarios for consideration. This will be through working in partnership with other managers within the Business Risk and Investment Team and ensuring that corporate systems, models and processes are fit for purpose and data quality / quantity / timescale issues are minimised.

What skills are we looking for?

This is a vital and influential position within the business, therefore it is key that the successful candidate has significant experience in strategic business planning. Demonstration of this will be displayed through practical application of risk planning and management, asset management prioritisation, financial management and report writing.

The ability to compile, assess, interpret and communicate information will be a key skill required for this role.

A confident communicator you will be comfortable presenting to people within Yorkshire Water and external stakeholders. The role requires a significant amount of stakeholder liaison, therefore we require strong interpersonal and influencing skills, experience of managing conflicting priorities and balancing the needs of multiple stakeholders is essential too.

Previous people management and coaching experience is desirable as you will be leading a team of 2 x technical specialists.

A full valid EU driving licence is required for the role.
