A Fabric Inspector is required to join an award winning UK textile innovator, independently owned, specialising in the design & manufacture of contract upholstery fabrics for commercial interiors and mass passenger transport. The company is based in the UK's West Yorkshire textile heartland, with additional manufacturing in Lithuania and Nottingham, from where it extends global reach into some 80 countries worldwide via established offices, warehousing and distribution channels in Europe, North America, China and Australia. They sell over 8 million metres of fabric a year for use in commercial offices, banks, government departments, universities, NHS, cinema, auditoria and transportation applications in buses, coaches, trains and underground.

The company employs about 600 people and is accredited to ISO 9001 (quality), ISO 14001 (environment) and OSHAS (health & safety).

Purpose
To reduce Cost of Poor Quality (CoPQ), improve customer satisfaction and ensure the highest standards of quality products by working with the manufacturing teams in identifying, investigating and assisting in rectifying faults.

Responsibilities

1. To make sure the quality standards are maintained to the highest level by carrying out assessment of non-conforming products when highlighted through their internal processes ensuring customer service levels are met
2. Assist in maximising efficiencies and streamlining processes by liaising with Continuous Improvement Teams
3. Building effective relationships with internal departments to ensure identified faults are communicated in a timely manner
4. Collate and provide accurate and up-to-date data to drive improvements, rectify errors and reduce costs
5. Ensure poor quality fabric is not dispatched to customer and that faults are correctly tagged, whilst reporting issues to the relevant team in a timely fashion thereby reducing impact on the customer
6. Support the reduction of Cost of Poor Quality by compiling and maintaining databases to record incidences and actions, which promotes feedback to their internal teams to prevent fabric waste

Education/Skills/Knowledge/Experience:

- Knowledge of contract and transport fabrics
- Fault awareness and identification experience is essential
- Good knowledge of Microsoft office, in particular Excel and experience compiling data
- Knowledge of AS400 is desirable
- Previous knowledge or experience of Continuous Improvement
