Our client is a Further Education College offering a wide range of courses to over 5000 full time students and over 5650 part time students each year. The college currently works with over 50 high school partners, welcoming students from Bury and the surrounding areas.

They now have an opportunity available for a Counsellor to join them to cover 3 days per week (term time only), providing confidential, short-term professional counselling support for students experiencing emotional and/or personal difficulties.

Offering a range of therapeutic interventions appropriate to student needs including one to one counselling and group work, you must maintain confidentiality in a professional way and ensure that boundaries of provision are understood by clients; actively promoting, developing and planning the service to include assessing students using approved methodology, assessing and responding to risk, allocating appointments and arranging case discussions (if appropriate).

Managing an active caseload of students effectively, you will ensure that confidential and concise records are kept and maintained in line with BACP guidelines and Data Protection legislation whilst working closely with student services, academic teams, ALS, etc to offer them support and guidance to enable them to appropriately support students through their roles.  You should also work collaboratively with external agencies and support services including NHS, GPs, Healthy Minds, CAMHS, etc to maximise support opportunities for students.

Candidates for this role must have an Advanced Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling, evidence of working to BACP or BPS ethical framework and hold BACP or BPS Accreditation (or be willing to work towards this).  With at least two years appropriate counselling experience, which should include 12 months experience of working with 16-19 issues, you must be a member of a Counselling or Psychology professional body and have in depth knowledge of child protection and safeguarding.
