Marie Curie is here for people living with any terminal illness and their families. We offer expert care, guidance and support to help them get the most from the time they have left.

As a Registered Nurse with Marie Curie, you’ll be helping people in their time of greatest need. It’s all about giving patients the best possible quality of life. We’ll help you develop your skills to meet individuals’ medical, social, spiritual and emotional needs.

As a result of service development and expansion across South Wales, Marie Curie has created this exciting new opportunity with the chance to really influence and shape the care provided for people living with a terminal illness.

In this key role, supported by the Clinical Nurse Manager and a team of Senior Nurses, you’ll co-ordinate our nursing teams, allocating patients by priority, working closely with the District Nurses and other key stakeholders to provide the right care packages and support needed, at the time they need it. This new service will operate across 24 hours, ensuring a more bespoke patient service during the day and at night, supporting the patient’s choice of where they are cared for.

A confident communicator and calm decision maker, you’ll need experience and knowledge in palliative care and community services, together with well-developed assessment and planning skills. The ability to prioritise your work, juggling a variety of changing demands, whilst speedily arranging the right care, is vital. This is a great development role for someone ready to take their next step up in nursing to really influence and shape palliative care.

The role is office based in the Marie Curie Hospice, Cardiff and Vale, although you must be willing to travel to patients’ homes, hospitals and other venues to plan and review care requirements, working with other professionals involved in their care. Whilst this role is initially Monday to Friday, it is anticipated that it will move to a 7 day rota towards the end of 2015.
