Job Title: Collections Payment Negotiator
Salary: Competitive
Location: Clayton-le-Moors, Accrington, BB5
Job Type: Full - Time, Permanent (36.5 hours per week - Candidates must be flexible between 8am-9pm during Monday-Thursday and Friday 8am to 7pm, 8am-4pm on Saturday)
Job Role:
Our Client is one of the largest direct mail order businesses in the UK. Whilst historically catalogue based, a growing tendency for customers to shop online means that sales via the Internet now make up a significant percentage of their turnover. They are currently looking to recruit a Collections Payment Negotiator to join their team.
The purpose of the role is to:
- Handle the collection of debts via outbound calling, in line with collection policies and practices.
- Handle incoming calls for customers or their appointed representatives who are in serious arrears or unable to pay to terms, in line with collection policies and practices.
- Handle some written correspondence from customers or their appointed representatives who are in serious arrears or unable to pay to terms, in line with collection policies and practices
Key Responsibilities:
- Negotiate payments and payment arrangements in line with collections policies and practices
- Consistently deliver a positive Customer Experience
- Achieve departmental quality objectives
- Achieve departmental performance targets
- Accurate amendment and maintenance of accounts on relevant systems
- Production of relevant documentation
- Carry out any other tasks or projects as requested by your Team Manager
Key Skills & Experience:
- Experience in telephone debt collection
- Ability to demonstrate excellent telephone skills
- Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure
- Good negotiation, communication and counselling skills
- Ability to resolve conflict
- Ability to work under own initiative and make decisions
- Computer literate with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Must be literate and numerate, educated to GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths grade A - C
- Knowledge of home shopping operations and relevant consumer legislation
- Positive, polite, assertive, professional, confident and outgoing manner
- Evening and weekend working required with the ability to work flexible shifts
