The company operates across multiple sectors, delivering a comprehensive range of innovative Off-Site Solutions, operating in the MOD, Commercial, Retail, Hotel, Student Accommodation and Education sectors.
Key Responsibilities:
The Design Manager will be responsible for providing leadership to the design team in the development of safe reliable designs, specifically coordinating design process from the bid through to factory production and site delivery, owning D&B procedures and ensuring company compliance with Regulations and sector specific Codes of Practice such as MOD/Education and Health.
- Interrogating external design briefs, representing the company in design meetings, interface with customers, consultants and contractors ensuring brief is understood and communicated.
- Managing and auditing designs and ensuring change control process is fully adhered to.
- Provide primary design oversight across multiple projects, including co-ordination with Construction and Project Management team/Managers, to facilitate the timely completion of design information to meet internal and external design programme targets.
- Manage allocated resources within projects and produce project design programmes to assist in project resource planning across the department.
- Provide project updates as required, including, but not limited to, project programme updates, resource updates, outstanding action lists and RFI trackers.
Key Requirements:
- Managing and providing leadership to the design team.
- Managing the design process using his/her commercial, contractual, programme/time awareness and technical expertise.
- Supporting, understanding and advising the customer as to the requirements and his/her obligations in the development of a building design.
- Manage internal and external design resources in a cost effective way.
- Ensuring the design process takes cognisance of current legislation, standards and codes of practice.
- Ensuring design information is in line with design quality and is in line with project timescales
- Eliminate health and safety risks in the design and any commercial risks during the factory or onsite installation.
- 5+ years' experience in Design Management roles for recognised Off-site or Main contractor.
- Experience on projects > £10M plus.
- Sector experience to include Commercial, Education and Healthcare.
- Strong IT Skills - Microsoft Packages and experience using BIM would be advantageous.
- Qualifications: BSc Construction Management or relevant equivalent.
