BI Application Support Analyst - London - to GBP50k

Application Support Analyst required to join a Global Financial Services company to provide support across all Business Intelligence solutions and applications. You will be joining a growing team made up of Business Analysts and Developers.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The team are responsible for managing the reporting and analytical needs of the organisation. You will be working on multiple Business Data Warehousing strategies, as well as supporting the existing BI estate and maximising its operational efficiency. You will also be expected to take ownership on Data quality and solve all issues raised by the business and work across multiple parties within IT to resolve them.

The successful candidate will have a strong foundation of IT experience supporting in-house applications, with a solid understanding of SQL and ETL. Experience of Business Intelligence Applications or Data Warehousing would be highly advantageous. The ideal candidate will have no more than 5 years' experience alongside expertise in writing SQL queries; knowledge of Informatica and DAC would also be beneficial.

*Monitoring and maintenance of data warehouses and BI applications
*Release and change management

*Performance tuning of ETL & reporting processes
*Develop an in-depth understanding of the interrelationships of data and multiple data domains
*Develop and evolve a fit for purpose reconciliation and data quality framework
*Standardise data naming and data definitions.
*Work with multiple (business and IT) teams to communicate, troubleshoot and rectify issues as they arise.
*Be a point of contact for all BI support activities
*Provision and maintenance of fit for purpose documentation

KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential

*High aptitude in analytical and logical thinking
*Good knowledge of SQL and PL/SQL to monitor and correct production scripts
*Experience of working with Oracle PL/SQL packages (developer or support role)
*Solid grounding of fundamentals of DB-OLTP and DWH systems
*Good knowledge of Oracle database (roles, grants, indexes, partitions, packages, procedures, functions, user defined types etc.)
*Basic knowledge of unix shell commands (unix OS commands, unix programs for file parsing, unix roles)
*Good knowledge of any commercial scheduler (e.g. Oracle DAC, Oracle scheduler - dbms_scheduler, CONTROL-M)
*Hands-on experience of change control systems like e.g. GIT, TFS, SVN
*Experience in support or development of Informatica Powercenter mappings/workflows
*Basic understanding of system development life cycle (dev, qa, uat and prod)
