The strategy is based on what people affected by MS have told us is important to them, and it gives us a clear and determined focus. We have big aspirations and we need to attract brilliant new people to help us achieve our ambitious goals. 

 

Job role Fixed term up to 18 months

 

As External Relations Officer you will have a key role in mobilising the MS community, within South and Mid Wales, so that people affected, senior professionals and other influential people make a powerful case for change in the treatment, care and support of people with MS.

 

You will also work with colleagues across the Policy and External Relations Team at a UK, national and local level to develop and grow intelligence around local practice, supporting the development and growth of pockets of excellence in MS treatment, care and support within each region and nation.

 

Crucially you will play a pivotal role in supporting national MS Society campaigns on issues, from access to medicines to awareness raising, by helping to shape campaigns and in promoting our calls to action amongst people with MS community to advocate for change.

 

The role will involve working closely with a wide range of external stakeholders including relevant professionals, such as consultant neurologists, charities with an interest in MS, neurology and associated issues and also key decision makers locally such as commissioners. You must be also be able to use your skills to work develop an effective network of MS champions, empowering local volunteers to be effective advocates for change.

 

As an External Relations Officer, you will have with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to influence a wide range of stakeholders.

 

You will have substantial experience in an external facing role and proven track record in working collaboratively with other organisations and in negotiating through influential relationships to secure change.

 

You will have a good understanding of the decision making structures and political context surrounding health and social care.
