Linux Support Analyst

About the role:
We are seeking to appoint a Linux support analyst to join the Scientific Computing and Infrastructure team at NOC Liverpool which provides support to scientists working on diverse systems ranging from laptops and workstations to Servers and high performance compute clusters. The work is challenging and specialised. These roles will include day to day administration of workstations, Servers and virtual machines and development and implementation of new services.
Experience with Linux, in particular Red Hat and their derivative distributions are essential. Knowledge of virtualisation technologies, directory services, parallel file systems, SAN and other storage technologies, enterprise backup systems, Scripting languages, Mac OS and Windows would be an advantage.
You will be based at the NOC Liverpool.
The post is offered as an open ended appointment on NERC terms and conditions.
Salary:
The salary offered is between GBP22,224 - GBP24,112 per annum depending on experience.

About you:
You will possess a relevant degree qualification or have equivalent work experience. You will also have an ability to work independently but also as an integral part of a team split across two sites, excellent troubleshooting skills, and strong organisational and communication skills. An ability to prioritise work and balance conflicting demands on your time would be an advantage.
