SGN manage the network that distributes natural and green gas to 5.8 million homes and businesses across Scotland and the south of England. This unique opportunity has arisen within our Scottish Independent Undertakings (SIUs) and will be based in Oban. The SIU's are unique in the UK in that they are not connected to the National Grid system. Oban uses Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) as a feedstock.
What does the role involve?
The duties of this role are multi-skilled therefore you will ideally have a good understanding and knowledge of the Gas Industry, although full training will be provided in all SIU activities.
Key requirements of the role:
• The ability to think clearly and take decisive action under pressure.
• Excellent Leadership skills.
• Taking responsibility and a lead role in all SIU operational activities.
• Deputising as a Team manager when required.
• Working variable hours and participation in a high frequency standby.
What we are looking for from you
• You will have at least 5 years relevant operational experience in an engineering or gas related role.
• You will be a good team worker, be able to communicate effectively with both employees and customers at all levels and it is essential that you are adaptable and flexible with excellent team building and leadership qualities.
• A valid driving licence is essential.
• A formal Engineering Qualification at a minimum of City & Guild level.

On occasions, to meet operational requirements, you will be required to deputise for the Team Manager and additional payments will be made for these duties. In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to participate in a high frequency standby rota covering all aspects of SIU activities. Due to the nature of the role a full valid driving licence is essential.
