: Purpose of the job Working as part of the Network services team and International Infrastructure team this role provides nework support to EMEA, Asia and South America. The role provides support for the existing network infrastructure, montitors performance, resolves issues and proactively plans upgrades and improvements. The rols is the network expertise on international projects. Defining the requirements in accordance with the network and security standards. Placing orders and managing deliverables to meet project the project timeline and budget. Specific responsibilities 1. Day-to-day Support a. Working as part of the Global Network team and in oncall rotation to provide 24x7 network support for the business. b. Working as part of the International Infrastructure team to provide support to the international business functions. c. Provide cross-functional skills between non network engineering teams d. Ownership, diagnosis and resolution of network faults e. Ensuring service meets established SLA's f. Responding to support tickets and providing excellent customer support 2. Interenational Projects a. Be able to produce a low level design from high level design and business requirements b. Working from high & low level designs to implement network and security solutions c. Technical leadership of international network project work, ownership and accountability. 3. Manage Changes a. Monitoring of network usage and plan upgrades and improvements b. Implementing network security process, policies and recommendations. c. Control implementation of all network services and changes d. To dispose of IT equipment in a legally compliant manner with the lowest possible environmental impact e. To be compliant with health and safety company policy and legislation. f. Develop documentation including network diagrams, design, test documentation, procedures and guides. Contacts and relationships Internal contacts: Accountable to: International IT Director - UK Network Services Manager - US Working with: Network Services Team, International Infrastructure team, Project managers, Service Desk team, Business partners. External contacts: Liaison with Verizon, In-Country telecoms suppliers, Network Hardware suppliers, In-Country IT support staff. Personal profile Competencies Essential: • 3 Years Industry experience ideally with relevant qualification or equivalent experience CCNA/CCNP. • Ability to research solutions to fit the business needs. • High and Low level network design. • Project delivery working within a project team, to design and implement WAN and Data Centre architecture. • Experience supporting large scale networks - understanding of MPLS • Working and troubleshooting knowledge of Cisco Routers, Switches, Wireless and Firewalls. • Experience and excellent understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, Routing protocols, Quality of Service, DNS, VOIP and VPN. • Ability to Travel (10% up to 20% may be required) • Preferred: • Experience of working on projects outside of the UK. • Knowledge of VMware ESX, Storage & Backup Solutions. • Knowledge of Citrix, Webservices. • Telephony experience (Nortel/Avaya) Characteristics Essential: • Problem solving & analytical skills, with a passion for increasing knowledge • Logical and methodical approach • Flexible attitude - prepared to take calls out of hours, and work flexible hours. • Able to work on your own or as part of a team. • Is self motivated with a positive attitude. • Willingness to travel-cross-cultural sensitivity. • Can establish priorities and handle many projects. • Ability to manage time, meet deadlines and work within budget. • Ability to drive projects forward remotely - smoothly and efficiently. • Able to stay positive during difficult conversations. . • Can-do attitude when assisting individuals with tools that are new • Able to communicate issues with procedures with business users and team leaders • Good stakeholder management.
