A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Head of HR to join our leading, Harrow based client on an initial 6 month FTC (opportunity to develop into a permanent role). In this role you will be responsible for leading and delivering a first class human resources service; including but not limited to, providing employment relations advice and guidance, developing, implementing and managing operational/transactional activity, and overseeing the provision of learning and development.
Key Accountabilities:
- Provide a proactive and comprehensive HR service; particularly the provision of confidential, consistent advice and guidance on a range of complex employment relations matters, including attendance, performance, disciplinary and grievance
- Provide expert advice and assistance with the planning, implementation and evaluation of any change processes in line with the clients' change policy and UK legislation.
- Oversee the delivery of transactional HR activity and use of the HR database, including maintaining effective working arrangements with the payroll function
- Line manage, supervise and delegate work to the HR Advisor/Facilities Assistant. Including but not limited to undertaking recruitment and development activities
- Develop and implement agreed and organisationally-aligned strategic HR objectives.
- Act as an organisational resource in relation to employment policy and practice, ensuring the organisation is kept up to date and responds to changes in employment legislation and practice.
- Develop, manage and monitor the budget and expenditure of the administration and premises budgets.
- Facilitate the day to day running of the premises, dealing with problems as they arise, liaising with the relevant parties and resolving as appropriate.
Key Skills and Experience Required:
- Strong HR experience working within a Unionised environment is essential
- Experience working in a similar role or the ability to step up to this level effectively
- Excellent Employee Relations experience and high level grievances and disciplinaries
- Experience within changing environments
- Excellent people management skills including the ability to set clear expectations around performance, tackle poor performance issues promptly and demonstrates a good balance between caring for people and delivering on the task
- Excellent influencing, negotiation and diplomacy skills
- Ability to develop and maintain productive partnerships including with external providers, stakeholders and trade union representatives.
- Able to use Microsoft Office packages including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook to an intermediate level.
