Design Manager

Our client is a well-established, successful engineering company based in Wakefield, West Yorkshire who is now looking for a Design Manager to join their leading design and manufacturing solutions company. You will provide developing cutting edge automation systems for the automotive, food and drink, consumer goods and general manufacturing process industries.

As a Design Manager you will have full accountability for all design, quality and standards, specifically focusing on the development and implementation of robust internal systems to elevate management standards. Your daily duties will involve managing the design team, holding design review meetings, checking that designs are on schedule and to cost, forward planning of designs and communicating with production team.

What you’ll need

• Extensive experience in a Senior Management or Executive level role.
• Experience operating at a senior level in a technical management capacity in the engineering sector.
• A good working knowledge and experience of implementing and maintaining all internal policies and procedures.
• Experience of leading and developing a technical/managerial function.
• A thorough understanding and working knowledge of SOP’s.
• Experience in mechanical design using 3D CAD.
• Experience in the control of mechanical and electrical design teams and their day to day management.
• Experience in the successful commercial management of the Design Process.
• A relevant Degree, ideally with further management qualifications and/or equivalent experience.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
